Public Gardens

Lake Bluff Garden Club is proud to have contributed to our village by maintaining some of the public gardens in the community.  We encourage all residents to walk by and enjoy the beauty these gardens provide.

Washington Park

Washington Park was a neglected corner lot in 1995 until Lake Bluff Garden Club turned it into a beautiful garden for the village's 100th anniversary.  When the park's 200-year-old burr oak died, we stepped in again and did a full restoration of the park, including hiring a local master craftsman to transform the fallen tree into an heirloom table, in honor of Lake Bluff's 125th anniversary in 2020.

Blue Star Memorial

The Blue Star Memorial, on Sheridan Road in Lake Bluff, was dedicated in 2006. Blue Star Memorials are an important initiative created by National Garden Clubs, Inc. after World War II as a way to honor our community's service men and women.  Lake Bluff Garden Club proudly maintains the garden surrounding the plaque as a place for residents to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Sculpture Garden

Lake Bluff Garden Club commissioned renowned artist Margot McMahon to create a unique steel sculpture to commemorate the club's 75th anniversary.  The sculpture, titled "Dance," was originally installed in the center of our village where E. Scranton and E. Center Avenues meet.  A new location has been determined, and reinstallation work will begin in summer 2025.
